CES Cardenal Spínola CEU has been offering study abroad programmes for 16 years, and since then an increasing number of international students and researchers have come from over 9 countries to CES Cardenal Spínola CEU to study every year.
CES Cardenal Spínola CEU is actively taking part in Europe's leading mobility initiative, the ERASMUS Programme. Currently in the 2011/2012 academic year we have 12 ERASMUS agreements which support the mobility of approximately 24 students from CES Cardenal Spínola CEU abroad as well as a number of teaching staff.
CES Cardenal Spínola CEU has participated in the Erasmus programme since 1999 with increasing intensity. The main aim is to provide specific academic and teaching opportunities for our students and professors to help them deepen their knowledge at partner institutions as well as working and studying in an international environment. CES Cardenal Spínola CEU is seeking partner institutions with similar structures, multidisciplinary education and research potentials. It is of high importance for our management to give students more and more opportunities to study abroad for at least one semester.
The University proposes agreements which include student and teacher exchange in both directions. Our main strategy is to fulfill the requirements of the new 2007-2013 programme, to open up to new possibilities of cooperation and to extend agreements to more areas with the existing partners. We are planning to welcome more and more students from the countries which recently became members of the European Union. The most important benefit of international exchange is that the academic knowledge gained by students at their home institutions can be put into practice in an international environment with a positive impact on their future employment.
Outstanding research is pursued at all levels in a creative environment with significant innovative results. We are looking forward to having closer relationships with research teams and researchers so that the use of intellectual values may bring profit, reasonable development and long-term co-operation for all participants.
The Area of Foreign Languages at CES “Cardenal Spínola” CEU is in charge of teaching English to teacher trainees and of preparing students who are studying for the new degree to reach level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference required by all students finishing a degree from the year 2014 onwards. To facilitate students, CES “Cardenal Spínola” CEU has signed an agreement with the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate whereby students may sit the examination in this college. Also, and with a view to practicing the language “in situ”, we offer students the possibility of doing their practice teaching in schools in Ireland and United States, specifically in the cities of Galway and Boston. Regarding this last option, Fundación San Pablo Andalucía offers students a scholarship to cover travel expenses. This experience allows them to practice the language, get to know other educational systems, meet foreign teachers as well as living the culture and customs of an English speaking country.
